The Hollywood Diet

Welcome to the land of most

Sushi in Beverly Hills

fastidious palates, abundance of
lushly flourishing produce, oodles
flavors, and multicultural culinary
delights created by world's most
brilliant chefs -- the City of
Angels is a gourmand's Mecca,
providing a bill of fare that leaves
nothing to be desired to a hungry
epicure's heart. Although ridden
by a massive body cult, excellently
prepared, delectable foods are part
and parcel of an Angeleno's daily
route. L.A.'s dietary map marks
bazillions of different nutrition
styles, and new diets are being
invented with every bikini season -
which is basically all the year
round, btw.

Aside from being star-studded, L.A.
is brimming with palate-spoiling
dining establishments casting a
blissful spell over Hollyglamour and
Hollyweird. Hence it's a foodie's
daily ritual to nosh and munch his
way through La La Lands
multi-faceted gastronomic scene.
Being up to speed on the ever-

changing, ever-reinventing itself,
and ever expanding culinary
domain,
aficionados and food lovers are
always on their mission to rout out
tasty grub for every occasion, diet,
palate and budget - comfort food
that satisfies every whim.

L.A.'s gourmands and their ilk
fervently debate and philosophize
about their culinary adventures
and orgastronomic experiences
for hours on end. It’s a food

aficionado's way of life to track
down and indulge in all kinds of

tasty fare at most coveted
eateries, to unveil hidden mouth-
watering secrets, or raise the cup
fizzing with a trendy brew. L.A.'s

scenesters have an itch for the
most elaborate, of-the-moment
culinary inventions. Eco freaks
and health-conscious go green
and dig local, organic fare. Yogis
and their likes skip the meat and

indulge in L.A.'s wide-spread
vegetarian scene. Partypeople
and hipster hanger-ons culitivate
an unmatchable bar-hopping
ceremony living it up at stylish in-

demand bars or weird watering
holes. Passionate hollybuzz takes
place in the thick of lovely cafes,
where sugar-infused Angelenos
while away, exchanging latest
gossip that is as delicious as the
sugar-sweet tidbits they nosh.
Meals on wheels are being served
by food trucks to hungry souls on
the run.

Beside the nutritional aspect -
which is fairly in second place -
eating (out) means socializing,
indulging, celebrating (life), and
last but not least watching people.
(Fame) hungry celebs seek for
creme-de-la-creme-kind restaurants
as much as they seek publicity and
love to hype up a dining
establishment even for the sake of
a beef stake.

Being home to the most sophisticated
palates, food wanders straight back
to where it came from - the kitchen -
if it doesn't satisfy entirelly heart's,
stomach's and eye's desire. An
orgasmic dining experience -- this is
what it's all about, and there is nothing
worse than routine for Angelenos
taste bunds, as it's the mix that matters
most and entering new, unexplored
culinary grounds -- to keep the magical
Hollybuzz alive.

So what's cookin in La La Land?
Strong Latin American flavors
influence Californian's fare while
spicing it up with tangy touches.
Habaneros, Serranos and Jalapenos
add pizazz to the Californian pizzas.
The Golden States' multifaceted
cuisine praises itself with freshly
prepared, locally grown natural
ingredients, using the advantages
of a perfect climate to grow about
anything. "Farm-to-table" is the
present movement among L.A.'s
finest eateries, serving what's
indigenous to the fruitful area.
Mexican specialties are a common
sight on L.A.'s restaurant menus,
as are seafood dishes and light
coastal fare rich in fresh salads
and grilled veggies. Traditional
American faves like burgers, fries,
sandwiches, and hot dogs complete
L.A.'s culinary world. Bon Appetit!

A Winner's Smile

A Winner's Smile

Let me let you into my secret
passion, and reveal my ardent
affair with lace, silk, chiffon,
tulle and nylon - altogether it's
the stuff that sensual fantasies
of exuberant after-dark fun are
made of. While setting
voluptuous trends for a whole
season of sensual revelry and
heady pillow talk, this enticing
temple makes the world
underneath her clothes heaven
on earth - flooded with opulent
embroidery and flimsy fabrics:
It's the Victoria's Secret myth.

La La Land's VS sanctuaries
seduced me zillions times and
whenever I left this Mecca of
finest lingerie with an iconic
pink bag in hand, my lovely
secret was safely nestled
inside, neatly wrapped up in
silky tissue paper...

The story starts at the Holly-
wood & Highland Center
during a jovial time before
Christmas, when every
purchase over 20$ would be
rewarded with a gift certificate
worth 10, 20, 50 or 100$.
While living out my passion
for frilly fashion I became a VS
regular, receiving a gift card
every time I treat myself to
another 'Very Sexy' piece, a
'Bombshell' item, an 'Incredible'
thing, the 'Most-Loved' number
or 'The Nakeds' delight. After
three months living and loving
L.A. I gathered quite a few
reward cards and couldn't wait
to unwrap my present to
discover what Santa Claus has
brought me. This was when I
found myself in a spacious,
French boudoir resembling,
dim lit, fitting room fiddling
around with a silky suspender
belt, a flouncy corsage, and
lacy super-push-up bra, that
made my tiny frame look
grotesque with the extra
portion boobs -- the perfect
Hollywood BMI, BTW.

While replacing the flouncy
stuff with jeans and shirt I
realized that all that frill is
going to cost me around 150$.
Still, I had four jokers up my
sleeve and a penchant that
had to be satisfied. When
approaching the register I
braced myself and put down
all my cards on the marble
counter, additionally
producing my pink credit
card. Suspiciously peering
at me, the sales lady took
my cards and swiped them
one by one...
"The total sum of all gift cards
is 130$", she cheerfully
exclaimed and congratulated
me while all the other
attendants were gathering
around us. Everybody was all
smiles, including me, sporting
a winner's smile for the rest
of the day.

The Myth of the Red Swimsuit

The Myth of the Red Swimsuit

While Beverly Hills is being
populated by a larger-than-life
crowd, L.A.'s scenic coastline
along the PCH is being reigned
by an athletic community that
ever since the red-bikini-action-
loaded show 'Baywatch'
achieved iconic status and
belongs to La La Land's
beautiful beach scene, like fake
boobs to Beverly Hills.

On their daily mission to protect
and save humans swimming and
lingering on the beach, L.A.'s
lifeguards cut quite a figure when
sporting their distinctive red
shorts or low-cut swim suits,
while dashing around grey
lifeguard booths, swinging their
red lifebuoys or riding their
signature yellow trucks along the
seaside and on sturday piers.
Being an red-clad, gym-honed
incarnation of Mitch and his
attractive crew, they keep the
Baywatch myth alive till this day.

Tidal-washed, lifeguards patrol
and control their sandy, sun-
washed territory to the sound of
breaking waves and squealing
seagulls, checking on (and out)
patrons, and on what has been
washed ashore...
Early morning fog - the so called
Marine Layer - hugs the coast all
summer long and provides
natural 'air conditioning' for the
cities along the bay. Hot sun-
drenched summer days give their
gym-honed bods a crispy suntan,
that is being deeply moistruized
by the fresh and salty ocean breeze
filling their lungs, infusing their
hearts.
Yet it's the chocolatey brown beach
bunnies, sporting itsy bitsy triangles
held on by pices of string, that inspire
a lifesaver's mind on a daily basis and
create a Malibu-perfect feast for the
eyes in the thick of a sun and waves
worshipping crowd.
