The Diva

Chapter 2: The Diva

The goddess is alive in every L.A. woman (and man).
As the sun rises over L.A. it’s a glittering dawn of
fabulous day, or it’s the final highlight of an exuberant
night (out). Swanking around sporting divine looks
she causes quite a stir wherever she pays a visit. Being
an ever-present center of attraction all eyes are on her.
Welcome to the luxe-filled life of a Glamazon living and
loving La La Land. Step into Her daily extravaganza
blazing with the all-embracing splendor of Hollyglamour.
Read on and get the inside scoop on L.A.’s glamour icon
– the Diva – as much glorified as mocked.

Before Hollywood’s ladies dare a fine-soled step onto
the buzzing grounds of Tinseltown they consider their
looks and wardrobe critically. The obvious question of
every morning is: how to dress? Certainly one brilliant
accessory will bear them company all day: the glorious
Californian sunshine will drench every outfit in golden
light. A spacious walk-in clothing sanctuary – stuffed
floor-to-ceiling with precious timeless pieces, of-the-
moment stuff and oodles accessories - serves them
with plenty possible answers to solve the fashionable
dilemma. This is not about designer stuff – it’s about to
be the radiant center of attraction, turning heads and
attracting looks everywhere she shows up. She is the
epitome of iconic Hollyglamour.

The Alpha and Omega is to be born with impeccable looks
since it’s a Glamazon’s daily mission to delight her glossy
surroundings by sporting a delectable body, a lovely
neckline, a sun-kissed skin, sexy hair and an angelic
ageless face – exceptional, unique features might enable
her to break into the movie or TV industry, the model-
business or become a Paris-alike socialite and an ever
present character of the media.

In the land of Hollyglamour and Hollyweird Saturday or
Sunday mornings are saved for breakfast or brunch with
family and/or friends. It's a defining, caffeine and gossip
infused ritual – serving kings and queens with juicy tidbits
alongside rather eggs than buttery French toast. Restaurant
and Café patios all over Hollywood are brimming, buzzing
and humming with jovial scenesters shielding their faces
with big-ass shades, while settling back in cozy loungers and
celebrating the beginning of the weekend. It goes without
saying that Glamazons don’t ever eat in. Pellegrino and
protein powder are the only permanent residents of her
fridge. Having an intricate philosophy about food, and being
very picky about their daily choice of fare and the particular
nutrition facts, figure-conscious ladies choose their culinary
routes as carefully as they choose their shopping paths and
outfits. Additionally she doesn’t stop at nothing - if the food
arriving from a restaurant’s kitchen doesn’t suit her desire it
wanders straight back where it came from, same second it
touches the table. It goes without saying that – it’s not her
habit to clear the plate. However sometimes she feels like
taking leftovers home – asking servants to box and make it
ready to go.
At some iconic restaurants - like at "The Ivy" on Robertson Blvd. -
it's all about to see and be seen. The food – regular burgers, 20$
Caesar salads, French fries and standard sandwich variations – is
hardly a Diva’s first (nor it’s a second) choice of fare. Never mind!
She frequents this famous eatery to meet and greet like-minded
pals just because she loves the buzz around this celeb-hangout
and the ever-present paparazzi hustling and bustling on the strip
in front of this Mecca of Nip and Tuck.
Expect to be hosted by exceptional looking, gym-honed servers –
who “in real life” are (often self-proclaimed) actors – spot them
at all sorts of restaurants and bars in L.A. Watch Handsome and
Hot waiting tables at non-descript watering holes - only in L.A.
the waiter or bartender has the looks of Brad or George.
Although the food at "The Ivy" is anything but extravagant –
unlike it’s regulars – the buzz and glamour is truly intoxicating.
Spot producers and directors discussing big deals while digging
into 20 $ Caesar salads, Beverly Hills wives swapping surgeons’
business cards while sharing latest gossip over goblets of
Pellegrino, B-List celebs looking to get their pic into a glossy
gossip mag while pushing their food around the plate.
Photographers focus their long-lens cameras through a white
picket fence aiming to score a good shot while hovering around
the sidewalk and Valet parking area all day, waiting for the much
coveted: The Diva (or her male counterpart). FYI: Robertson
Blvd. is another fave diva-hangout, a glitzy strip where high-end
boutiques are fashionable neighbors, stunning beauties come
and go and sidewalks swank around with luxurious vehicles.

Speaking of good sense of style, sumptuous outfits, like fluffy
dresses, fancy jackets and glamorous evening gowns make the
ultimate L.A. party queen ready for some Saturday night fever
on the Sunset Strip. Party-perfect dresses, sparkling skirts, skin-
exposing duds are the “must haves” of a Glamazon – aside form
sexy lingerie and a figure hugging Yoga or gym outfit.
Spot Hollywood's beauty queens scurrying around on staggering-
high, needle-thin heels, sporting huge shades (and big shopping
bags) at The Beverly Center, the Americana, The Grove, the famed
Melrose Place on Melrose, or to top it off the Rodeo Drive on a
Saturday afternoon.
L.A. is studded with umpteen fashionista’s heavens and high-
end shopping Meccas inviting ladies to splurge, tempting them
with ingenious showrooms that stage the crème de la crème of
the latest styles and collections.
Melrose Place is luxury's address, affording exclusive collections
of splendid names and regular celebrity drop-ins. Fine ladies
come across extravagant Oscar-worthy robes and swanky
accessories at de luxe fashion sanctuaries ranging from Oscar
de La Renta, to Carolina Herrera, to Mulberry, to Marc Jacobs,
to Michael Kors and many other acclaimed names of the fashion
industry. This corner street is one of the chicest nooks in
Hollywood and also the coziest – unlike Rodeo Drive which is
another shiny luxurious goods market where Gucci, Prada, Dior
and the likes set a swanky scene.

Being born into an exceptional life (style) with a shopping gene,
a Glamazon loves to indulge in best quality, loves fancy fabrics
and styles – reinventing herself with every new Prada collection
reflecting the zeitgeist and her present fashionable mood.
Exceptional pieces will not only represent her sophisticated sense
of self they will attract everybody’s attention where ever she
shows up. On her daily mission to be a feast for the eyes - where
ever her impeccably groomed and high-heeled feet might carry
her - she intently inspects lines of racks and shelves to accomplish
her goal.

Red-carpets roll almost everywhere in Tinseltown, thus is the Bible
of Glam a great tome. A red-carpet approved dress is a must-have
in La La Land and has to be anything but modest. Outrageous
slinky styles, floods of bright sparkling beads, spangles, twinkling
gems - embracing an enticing neckline - and ridiculously high
heels - sported by sky-high legs - are of paramount importance
and aim to generate a heavy flutter of camera flashes. It’s
guaranteed that her sultry eyelashes flutter, the innocent glance
over her slinky shoulder, her compelling, bright-colored pout will
cast a spell over the male crowd.

In front of long-lens cameras nothing passes unnoticed and
this is why a high attention to detail is vital: Pampered hands
and groomed feet make a diva’s divine appearance perfect.
L.A.’s Glamazons get their man/ped at a carefully chosen salon;
frequently drop in for a massive blowout at a fancy hair salon -
handing themselves over to a hipster hair guru (usually male)
they trust and – this one is pretty sensitive - get a whole-body
wax, since it's beach season all year around in the southern Cali.
Noble spas and wellness resorts make sure the diva is thoroughly
pampered and impeccably groomed from head to toe by offering
de luxe treatments all around those gym-honed bodies. A gym-
membership comes with her shopping gene, BTW.
In the end of the day, it goes without saying that only the perfectly
honed gems attract producers, casting directors and talents scouts.
Pursuing this high(life)style, might sound like a full-time job.
Some Glamazons however, do actual work other than the jobs they
get done at beauty salons. Whether it’s the movie industry, fashion,
Public Relation, acting, or other branches of the ever-flourishing
entertainment industry, additionally some fitness-bunnies are
personal trainers and/or nutritionists. Beauty queens rock L.A.’s
buzzing business world.

As soon as Thursday night arrives it's time to party. Clubs in L.A.
usually request for special attire and sort out the queuing crowds
carefully – like a little back Chanel dress: the perfect fit is vital,
and the same philosophy applies to the perfect melange of the
attendees. Theme parties and costume balls are popular in the
Land of Entertainment. A diva never spoils the fun and makes a
hell of an effort to doll up accordingly the host's request. In order
to catch everyone’s eye she plans her outfit carefully. Worst case
scenario is spotting anybody clad in the same dress or sporting
the same purse. No Hollywood party is complete without a pool.
Not for swimming purposes - of course - just for the sake of the
mellow floating of azure blue chlorine water, which has an oddly
magical impact on the vibe. Almost every party venue is richly
appointed with gold-framed floor-to-ceiling mirrors to enable
Hollyglamour and Hollyweird an immediate check of reflection.

The Standard Hotel in trendy downtown L.A. hosts red-carpet
events every weekend at it’s trendy arranged rooftop, providing
a stunning view over the City of Angels and the other skyscrapers
in this up-and-coming area. The party-perfect top floor is
appointed with an extensive pool, surrounded by comfy sun
loungers, a dance floor, vibrating waterbed pods, illuminated
round bar located in the main area and outdoor fire places that
provide a cozy vibe while crackling the night away.
While gym-honed mixologists serve fancy cocktails and vintage
wine – by bottle or glass – to Rich and Beautiful, an in-demand
DJ spins vigorous sounds that mingle with the vibrant chitchat
of a glamorous crowd. Their sacred credo: Dress to impress -
obviously. This venue, heavenly located above the clouds of La La
Land has become one of the most coveted nightlife destinations.

No gathering, party or event goes by without a camera involved –
photo or video – it doesn’t matter. The capturing-the-moment-
photo-taking part is a consistent ritual, which is why everybody
must be photogenic in Hollywood. The diva poses for every lens
that gets into her way and indulges in the attention, enjoys
compliments and people’s looks – any kind of - dirty or
voluptuous.

In the end of a brilliant day, in the Land of Vanity the goddess
looks back at a decadent lifestyle, her daily-cultivated astronomical-
high standards and an ever-present high feeling. It’s an all-aspects-
of-life-embracing, overly powerful, self-generated self-perception
shaped by the exhilarating buzz and glitz of the magical town L.A.,
a diva’s oddest phantasies and an incredibly huge portion of self-
confidence paired up with a ridiculously high self-esteem. She, the
luxe-loving goddess of Tinseltown debauches in a splendid fairy tale
drenched in the ever shining sun of the Golden State California.
This is the illustrious stuff that Hollywood dreams are made of.
